Health & Safety Compliance Training FAQ

All of our health and safety training is compliant with Ontario’s Ministry of Labour mandates, as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS 2015. As per Ontario government requirements, you need to provide the names of employees who completed the training, the date of completion, and the topics covered.

Employees are given three attempts to successfully complete the training assessment quiz.  We have found that since the training is easy to follow, the majority of employees get near perfect results. 

We do not offer refunds; however, if an employee’s contract has been terminated either by the employer or employee before the module has been completed, you will have the option to pass that module to someone else as long as it is within the 60-day term of your agreement.

Yes! Our Compliance Modules can be purchased annually so that employees can be certified every year as per the government requirements.

Our compliance training modules are distinct from others because the material and knowledge testing all relate to hospitality-specific settings. This allows the employee to engage with workplace-relevant content and have real-world applications to their learning.

Your employees have 60 days to complete all purchased training from the day of signing your contract with HWTC.

The passing grade is 80%. This is to ensure that the employee has thorough comprehension of the health and safety training content and that they can apply it in real-life situations.

An employee has 3 attempts to pass their final test. If a passing grade is not attained, they do not get a certificate of completion. This also indicates that they do not have enough knowledge to be able to act in an emergency, handle hazardous chemicals, or navigate a potentially violent or disruptive encounter, and that further assistance or other interventions are needed.

We will need your employees’ first name, last name, and email address to set them up in the Training Portal. We will provide you with a template to fill out. Employees’ email addresses can be their personal or corporate email.

You will find the certificates of completion in the Reports Centre, under the View Certificates heading. Your employee may be listed up to 4 times as a certificate of completion will be issued separately for each module completed.

Each module should take about 45 minutes to complete, depending on the reading comprehension of the employee.

Yes. You will have access to your employees’ certificates of completion as well as a report of those employees who have completed their training. This training report of your employee’s names will satisfy the Ministry’s requirements of proof of training.

You will receive a welcome email that will include a link to access the Compliance Training Portal. Simply click on the link in your welcome email. Your username is your email, and the password is included in the welcome email. Once you log in, you will see all of your registered learners and be able to track their progress.

EYou do not have to change your password, but should you choose to do so, please ensure it is saved in a safe place as we will not have it in our records.

Absolutely. We do not share any personal information with any third parties. Yours and your employees' information will be kept confidential and secure.

This training is seamlessly designed so that no technical support is needed. The employee needs a device that can access the internet and a valid email address. HWTC can provide support if any account issues arise. Please contact us at workforcesolutions@hwtc.ca for assistance.

Absolutely. You can purchase however many and which training modules you need for however many employees you need them for.
