If you picked up shifts this summer because of the World Cup, serving, hosting, working events, staffing hotels, you just got a crash course in high volume hospitality. That is not nothing. That is exactly the kind of experience employers want to see, and it does not have to end when the season does.
Late summer in the GTA is still busy. Patios run until the weather turns, and a lot of employers who brought on extra staff for the tournament are now deciding who they want to keep. If you showed up, handled the pressure, and did the job well, you are in a good position to ask about staying on.
A few things worth doing now.
Put the tournament work on your resume specifically, not just “hospitality experience.” Being able to say you worked high volume shifts during one of the busiest events this city has hosted says something a generic job title does not.
If you do not already hold Smart Serve or Food Handlers, this is a good moment to get certified, since it opens up more roles right away.
